The Hellenic Weightlifting Federation is the official governing body for the sport of Olympic weightlifting in Greece.
Established in 1972, it operates under the supervision of the General Secretariat of Sports and represents Greece in all international weightlifting organizations and events.
The Federation is a full member of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) and the European Weightlifting Federation (EWF), with a long and distinguished history of producing Olympic and World Champions.

The 2026 World Masters Weightlifting & Adaptive Championships are held under the auspices of the Hellenic Weightlifting Federation, affirming the official and institutional recognition of the event in Greece.

This event is held under the auspices of the Association of Greek Olympic Winners (SEO – “Syllogos Ellinon Olympionikon”), the institutional body uniting Greek Olympic winners across all sports and promoting the timeless values of Olympism, sport, education, culture, and social contribution.

Founded in 1985, SEO stands as a living symbol of Greece’s Olympic heritage—of the country where the Olympic Games were born and where the first modern Olympic Games were hosted in Athens (1896).

Important note (to avoid confusion): SEO (Olympic Winners) is not the same organization as the Hellenic Olympians Association (Olympic participants).
